Its all about the right tools.
This web site is a labor of kitchen love. In my family, my husband does the cooking and grilling. I do the desserts and baking and we eat in (and very well) most of the time. What we are usually doing after we put our kids to bed is watching cooking shows to plan our next meal and get ideas about what tools we might want to add to our collection. This means we are constantly buying new kitchen equipment, and we are both selective about our kitchen gadgets. The best baking pan, for example, makes a world of difference in the color and evenness of a cake. I have to have a good cookie sheet to get soft, evenly browned cookies rather that burnt edges and disappointment. My husband has been through a handful of meat thermometers and if money (and space!) were not object, he would put in a chef quality kitchen and a built-in outdoor grill with fire pit and a pizza oven before he would, say, put in a home theater. (Though neither one of us would turn our nose up at one!)
I figure if you are going through the effort to cook for yourself or people you love, get the right tools and set yourself up for success.
